@cremieuxrecueil God bless corporations and the rich for once again dragging civilization forward with capitalism while the general population kicks and screams.

Obesity is finally declining.
It's been falling since 2021, and the trend doesn't look like it's stopping. https://t.co/CXbJgDqmkc

@cremieuxrecueil This was obviously true. The stuff I heard from previously semi-sane libs at that time was psychotic. It might be a touch better today, but certainly worse than before

After George Floyd died, White liberals' out-group bias (liking other groups more than their own group, Whites) nearly doubled. https://t.co/TuS6iUrQuI

The thing that really makes this a victory is that it's publicly-available data, so anyone can go and grab it and find that this is correct and all valid scoring methods generate substantially similar results.
This sort of thing is why environmentarians hate open data and code.

@cremieuxrecueil We can simply ignore IQ and look at technological output. Almost no new technology comes out of Africa and no seriously high tech at all comes out of anywhere in Africa
High tech is highly correlated with high IQ
Look at China for instance and the USA

Large-sample, measurement invariant, sub-Saharan African national IQs gathered by respected authorities, with floor effects handled?
And they still come out to ~70?
This is an insane level of vindication for Richard Lynn and total, crushing defeat for his detractors.

Hereditarians were right again. For decades egalitarians have disrupted Lynn's ~70 IQ estimate for sub-Saharan Africa. The data were sparse, conditions questionable, samples insufficiently representative, tests possibly biased. All true, but the pattern was clear enough given the

@cremieuxrecueil it is kind of terrifying that some of these actually change the paper’s main result. looks like a lot of papers have never been properly checked

For example, the 100km spatial control here was always run at 350km in the code: https://t.co/frTrJ6y81V
This doesn't make a huge difference, but some of their other errors do!

Astra is finally making me excited for LLMs to check for errors in scientific papers.
It's reliably finding text-code discrepancies that earlier models would sometimes ignore because they seemed to default to believing authors' statements.

I sicced Astra on a bunch of replication packages, and it found a huge number of coding errors.
Most of these were inconsequential, but some of them overturn central results for papers in high-ranking journals.
Astra also discovered that many models weren't even run properly.

Will post about this soon. It's still going right now, and the results are pretty shocking.
For example, for this paper, a spatial dependence model they claimed to run was actually not run with spatial dependence accounted for at all: https://t.co/oqLdYff7J1

This isn't a joyful conclusion. The notion of a trial by a jury of your peers is a nice one. It's just not clear it's feasible when some groups are identity-obsessed.
I don't see an obvious way to fix modern American trial by jury.

Lee Kuan Yew abolished trial by jury in 1969 because he noticed cases were being decided on the basis of identity:
Malays let Malays off the hook. Muslims let Muslims off the hook.
Singapore would have no justice with its multiethnic juries, so he moved to bench trials. https:/

And it's not every group contributing to this.
In the plot above, you can see that Whites have no average racial bias and Blacks have considerable racial bias.
It's a similar situation with women, although worse because men and women are both biased in their favor.

It is truly insane that identity politics it ruining juries.
If you want to reliably bring justice down on a woman? Jury of men. Want to reliably bring justice to a Black person? Jury of Whites.
This system is becoming so broken we might have to replace it like Singapore did. h

@cremieuxrecueil It's safe to eat if you can verify both the herd and the animal. Just means you need to keep the meat in the freezer for about a month while you test.

Frederick, MD came to an interesting agreement with a data center developer:
The developer will renovate an elementary school, build a community center + rec park, preserve farmland, train workers, build trails + solar, buy a fire truck, and it replaces an idle aluminum smelter.

@cremieuxrecueil It is easy and (in most affected states) free to get your deer tested for CWD, just drop off the head at your local DWR testing/drop site. The evidence for transmission to humans is thin, and mostly solvable through testing/not putting brain and spine tissue in t
