@US_Stormwatch Strange that this chart only begins in 1980.
Glen Canyon Dam's diversion tunnels closed in 1963.
Lake Powell held almost no water that day.
It reached full capacity only in 1980.
The water level today is almost 400ft higher than on that day in 1963.

The Colorado River crisis will be a defining moment in US history. The river supplies 40 million people; Mead and Powell, two of the nation’s largest reservoirs, are at record lows.
Filling them near full would take ~8 consecutive very wet winters, a statistical impossibility.

@US_Stormwatch @agustin_ICIJ The water is 74 degrees at the beach here in North San Diego County and the waves are huge because of a hurricane. I have lived here most of my life. This is not normal.

I built ClimateSearch: find the weather & climate that actually fits you across 6,000+ cities in 175 countries.
My personal top 10? All warm Mediterranean climates. Probably because I am California kid.

@US_Stormwatch @ember_energy Why do I get the feeling that if it was Texas that accomplished this feat there would not be as many negative comments. Talk about California Derangement Syndrome (CDS).

@US_Stormwatch @ember_energy I don't understand people looking at one metric and calling it a win. California residents pay roughly 80–90% above the national average for electricity. How is that a win?

California just became the first major grid system on the planet to generate more than 50% of its electricity from solar across an entire month.
Battery costs are falling rapidly, and utility-scale solar is among the cheapest sources of new power in the US.
Solar is the future.
