In FY'22, cost per trip spiked even higher ($67.48) after ridership cratered during Covid
Before Covid, cost per trip was $15.35, which feels much more reasonable
Ridership hasn't meaningfully recovered — in FY'24 it was at 38% its pre-Covid peak! — though it's improved a bit

Omg. In FY'24, BART's average cost per trip was $48.76
Fares cost $5.18, so that means each trip had a $43.58 subsidy 😅
I'm extremely pro-transit, but that is a shocking number! https://t.co/SF6xSXb6fE

I'm also tickled that they took a picture of me opening the gate
I think people may not realize how much of working on land involves opening & closing big heavy gates! 😆
