@MIRIBerkeley. If we build opaque superhuman AIs, it's likely to get us killed. The least-bad solution is an international agreement like https://t.co/BsSp5beZhp.

I think posts like this are downstream of not understanding the prediction, and therefore treating it like a black box that emits sentences. Then you find it suspicious when the box doesn't make strong claims about all kinds of random topics that are nearer in time than ASI. But 488 views · 7 likes · 0 reposts · 0 replies Open on X →
My problem with this view is that if a failed AI attack attempt is just evidence that the agents aren’t advanced/ASI enough, then the claim that “ASI would never attack humanity until it was sure it would succeed” is predictively empty. Moreover, if witnessing such a failed http 3.9K views · 45 likes · 1 reposts · 7 replies Open on X →

@gcolbourn You have swarms of rogue people, government, institutions etc that have done immense harm already. Where was your outrage? . Go ahead and pause everything. I don’t think you will like your vision of a safe utopia. 1.5K views · 1 likes · 0 reposts · 2 replies Open on X →
We have gone beyond refusing to offer the argument, to refusing to offer the evidence, to now refusing to offer even the position. 2.5K views · 91 likes · 1 reposts · 2 replies Open on X →
Why the "it's all hopeless, we should just give up and let AI kill us if it wants" arguments are extremely wrong: https://t.co/eW8TZ3NaTw Why the window of opportunity for the international community to do anything about all this is probably closing: https://t.co/O9kyyYeWUQ http 2.2K views · 21 likes · 0 reposts · 0 replies Open on X →
@robbensinger One reason that may be somewhat uncomfortable for many: a lot of the early recognition of the dangers of ASI emerged within the rationalist/EA milieu, and a lot of rationalists/EAs are deeply uncomfortable with politics - especially politics that involves making com 1.3K views · 23 likes · 3 reposts · 1 replies Open on X →
I think one of the biggest reasons the world is currently sleepwalking into getting ourselves and our families killed by ASI development is that we're not self-aware about why we're doing that. We can see the smarter-than-human AI disaster approaching, but it's a bit foggy why 54.9K views · 486 likes · 91 reposts · 40 replies Open on X →
@robbensinger Yeah, practically zero respect for the problem. I don't know what went so culturally wrong. Anthropic is heavily culturally EA, and the EAs kept pretending to be serious people who engaged in serious ways. Why do they fall so far below the bar of serious engineers o 35.3K views · 204 likes · 7 reposts · 11 replies Open on X →
In the future, governments may lose their ability to control the pace of AI development, even if they want to. In my paper, presented at Technical AI Governance @ ICML 2026 @taig_icml, I analyze how. Right now, governments could still pace AI progress, but the window is closing. 9.6K views · 75 likes · 12 reposts · 2 replies Open on X →
