@JohanSalomon Without pawn on g7, it would be mate. So white should force black to move this pawn.
Qa8 does just that: black can move the g7 pawn only, eiter by capturingt he rook (xh6) or moving this g7 pawn to g6 or g5.

@JohanSalomon Can't you just Kh2 and let zugzwang do the rest? Either Qxg7 or Qh6 depending on whether the unpinned rook or the king moves.
