When other sports get so expensive it should induce the parents of great athletes, who are too small for division I level (never mind beyond), to spend their money on a sport like soccer with more opportunity. Playing multiple sports allows them to acquire skills/tactics that they might not necessarily learn playing a single sport. Bascially every sport. Moved from local/rec/varsity to clubs. There's less development using multiple sports and more focus on the superstars early on, some of whom burn out early.
