I would make a compromise where DST only applies from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Call it "summer time" and make it the same as school summer vacation.
That blessed extra hour of sleep because of the "fall back" would arrive right as kids were starting school.

Likewise the negative health effects of the current Daylight "Savings" Time regime are worst at the western ends of the time zones, where DST most powerfully disrupts circadian rhythms.
Time is not arbitrary, the human body knows what time it really is, and DST kills!
