@GeniusGTX If Tesla can actually sell the Cybercab for $30,000, the automotive industry is finished.
It’s the iPhone vs. BlackBerry moment — once that happens, mass adoption of robotaxis follows the same way smartphones replaced everything else.

TL;DR
1. Base case is 14,000 gross profit a year
2. It assumes a dollar a mile and 35% to Tesla
3. Tires and charging are the largest running costs
4. Empty miles cut a dollar fare to 57 cents
5. Maximum utilization roughly doubles the profit
6. About 8,000 net after a 35% tax

Every figure here is an output of one spreadsheet with roughly a dozen inputs, and Basher is open about that throughout.
Change the fare, the take rate, the FSD price or the utilization and the answer moves by tens of thousands. He shows exactly that, repeatedly.

8. Nobody can buy one yet
No consumer has been sold a Cybercab, the price and date rest on a Musk reply on X, and the model assumes unsupervised autonomy is legal where you park.
Basher runs an advisory firm and Ong holds Tesla orders.

7. It can also go negative
Basher runs the downside himself. If Tesla charged 1,000 a month for FSD and took half the fare, gross profit turns negative.
The outcome depends less on the car than on two prices Tesla sets and can change.

6. Eight thousand after tax
Applying a 35% tax rate to the base case leaves around 8,000 dollars net in the first year.
On Basher's numbers the vehicle pays for itself in about three and a half years at the base case.

5. Forty thousand at full utilization
Push the car to 65% utilization, roughly 15.6 hours a day earning, and gross profit reaches about 40,000 dollars.
Tires and depreciation scale with the miles, so the costs rise alongside the revenue rather than staying flat. https://t.co/tT

4. Fifty seven cents, not a dollar
The fare is a dollar a mile but the owner nets about 57 cents across every mile the car travels.
Empty repositioning miles and idle time are unpaid, and they are a large share of the total.

3. Where the money goes at 30%
- Tires 2,800 and charging 2,300 a year
- FSD 2,400, plus EV taxes near 1,400

2. The assumptions doing the work
- A dollar a mile, 25 mph, five mile trips
- 40% of miles driven empty, 35% to Tesla
- FSD at 199 a month, home charging at 16 cents https://t.co/FyaCSAD3Ea

At 30% utilization, meaning the car earns for 7.2 hours a day, the model gives an owner about 32,000 dollars of revenue.
After every cost Basher includes, that leaves roughly 14,000 dollars of gross profit for the year.
