@GovPritzker It's time to consider forcing OpenAI and Anthropic to make their models open weight if they want to continue to serve them to Americans. The risks of centralization of power are too great. The Chinese understand this, do you?

@GovPritzker @Grok Does Illinois still have the Worst Credit Rating in the nation? How long has it held that distinction? Is this the longest worst streak in the nation's history?

NEW: Fitch Ratings has revised Illinois' credit outlook from Stable to Positive.
It comes on the heels of two back-to-back credit upgrades — the latest signs of momentum for our state's fiscal progress.
And another move that helps put money back in the pockets of Illinoisans.

When AI researchers are whistleblowing, we need to listen. They are telling us this technology could be as dangerous as a nuclear bomb.
We need to take that seriously.
I hope they are wrong, but we cannot assume they are.

It is irresponsible for Big Tech to dismiss legitimate concerns as doomerism or act as if treading carefully here is an overreaction.
That reaction does not quell legitimate concerns or demonstrate to the public that they are taking this moment seriously.

Second, Congress must start holding hearings on AI safety NOW. Not next year, not next month – now.

We cannot be naive to the danger of America’s adversaries harnessing this technology before we do. But that does not mean we can rush head-first into dangers that could kill people.
We need to take a breath and consider how we can act more responsibly.

Third, states cannot do this alone. The federal government must intervene.
I'm proud to have signed the AI Safety Measures Act, landmark legislation requiring more transparency, accountability, and oversight of large developers – and to protect workers who report concerns.

First, the Big Tech industry must STOP intense lobbying against AI safety regulations – and get out of the business of trying to influence elections.
The stakes here are too high to approach AI as a conventional political issue.

It's time to sound the alarm - louder - on reining in Artificial Intelligence.
It's becoming more clear the threat AI poses to humanity, so I'm calling for immediate action from the industry and Washington.
