Grateful to @TheFP for publishing an adaptation of my recent essay "Why hasn't AI increased unemployment?" In it, I lay out a framework that helps me make sense of why AI has so far not increased unemployment—while recognizing the uncertainty that remains for the future. 6.4K views · 36 likes · 1 reposts · 5 replies 20 Aug 2026 · Open on X →
Artificial intelligence is reshaping work across the economy, writes Peter McCrory. So far, it hasn’t raised unemployment, but is that about to change? https://t.co/DGjNrOHohZ 17K views · 12 likes · 0 reposts · 1 replies 19 Aug 2026 · Open on X →
In @Research_FRI’s survey of experts and the general public, retraining support was the most favored policy option for addressing AI’s economic impacts. Do these programs work? 3.4K views · 4 likes · 0 reposts · 3 replies 12 Aug 2026 · Open on X →
A very helpful overview of how AI is being used across Google’s surfaces. It's great to have more insight into AI adoption around the world to complement what we see in the Anthropic Economic Index. This work helps us all make sense of AI’s economic impact. 18.1K views · 62 likes · 16 reposts · 7 replies 23 Jul 2026 · Open on X →
@PeterMcCrory Please share this article with the half-million tech workers laid off since January 2025 so their companies could afford gluttonous CapEx to give to Anthropic and OpenAI to make chatbots. Post this article on LinkedIn and see if it gets a response. 😈 1.4K views · 9 likes · 1 reposts · 0 replies 23 Jul 2026 · Open on X →

@PeterMcCrory In our paper, we found it's because most firms aren't using AI much at all. And these "low-intensity" see no difference from control. High-intensity firms see 10% growth over two years, but that's a small set of firms using the most advanced tools. https://t.co/S7v 1.7K views · 8 likes · 0 reposts · 2 replies 22 Jul 2026 · Open on X →
Why hasn’t AI increased unemployment? Today I’m sharing an essay taking on that question. Plus two updates: our Economic Index is now available in Claude, and we’ve released the agenda for our $200 million Economic Research Fund. https://t.co/ujcXUNeqA0 26.8K views · 104 likes · 11 reposts · 9 replies 22 Jul 2026 · Open on X →
