@TMFScottP It’s concerning when the government talks about it being a National Asset. That 4trillion is an awfully juicy and ripe number for sticky fingers.

None of those changes would weaken superannuation.
They’d protect its purpose, make it easier to understand, put downward pressure on fees and preserve generous – but not unlimited – tax concessions.
Almost $4.8tn is an extraordinary achievement.

1. Keep super for retirement – and politics out of it
2. Radically simplify it
3. Create an extraordinarily low-fee default fund, independently run by the Future Fund
4. Make sure super is used in retirement
5. Make the tax concessions fairer

Australians now have almost $4.8 trillion in super.
The system received $236bn in contributions last year, returned 8.6% and paid $148bn in benefits.
It’s one of our best economic policies.
But ‘excellent’ doesn’t mean ‘perfect’.
Here’s what I’d change.

So a follower, Tim, tells me my book is about to take off!
(Well, he said it was available for sale in Terminal 3 at Sydney Airport, but I think that's almost the same thing... right?) https://t.co/ITG0GMlH5v

Australia’s super system remains the envy of much of the world.
It has grown to almost $4.8 trillion. Assets rose 9.5% over the year, while the annual investment return was 8.6%.
For all its problems (and I’d fix many), we are very fortunate to have it. https://t.co/moo9ime7xz

Tweeting about a range of stuff - and not following an arbitrary 'party line' on anything - means I end up with followers who might be disappointed that I'm not a cheerleader for 'their team' (regardless of the topic).
So, thanks for following, but consider yourselves warned :)
