Stock Futures do not exist in isolation from the company underneath them. Dividends, stock splits, reverse splits and other corporate events can affect the contract. A Zero Fee trade can still get a poor fill. If liquidity is thin, a market order may move through several prices before it is completed. A limit order avoids that immediate movement but may never fill. This is why I look at the order book before celebrating the fee.
