AI is increasingly being used to make image-based abuse faster, cheaper & easier to spread.
Women are being disproportionately targeted.
@UN_Women is calling for urgent action to end violence against women and girls & build safe online spaces for all. https://t.co/HKtE1qixcy ht

For those that have said I’ve only started talking about Superintelligent AI this week and I was following the crowd I wrote this in January when very few in politics were listening.
I’ve in fact been sounding warnings for 10 years and I started studying AI over 30 years ago!

The distance between what @DarioAmodei is saying and what we’re saying isn’t huge but AI companies cannot be left to self-regulate in the same way we wouldn’t allow pharmaceutical companies to self-regulate so we need a global regulatory body

AI is vital to Britain's economic future. But superintelligent AI is different: it would threaten the lives of everyone on earth. That’s why my bill prohibits superintelligence development while safeguarding the UK’s AI ambitions

The day I introduced this bill, @hilbertspaess resigned from Anthropic, warning AI companies are racing to superintelligence that “could kill us all within the decade”.
The government must take action to secure an international agreement banning superintelligent AI.

With 71 colleagues I am calling on the Govt to work with us on my bill to prohibit the development of superintelligent AI and champion an international agreement
We can then lead on preventing the extinction risk posed by superintelligence while preserving strategic AI ambitions

British politicians and journalists opining on the AI safety debate. It’s so tragically comical how delusional they are. https://t.co/kyCeWuivyX

@alexsobel So anyone’s labelled hard right for defending women’s rights - I guess because you’re a man it doesn’t really affect you - it’s a wonder the words female woman and girls isn’t outlawed yet - this is ridiculous

@alexsobel Mr @alexsobel, the Islamic Republic & its IRGC have massacred over 50,000 innocent Iranians protesting for freedom. UK must act: recognise Mr Reza Pahlavi as the legitimate leader of the Iranian nation to support democracy! #IranMassacre #KingRezaPahlavi #IranRevolutio

Visits to deepfake abuse sites have risen 3000% since 2019.
That’s thousands of ordinary women and girls being exploited online via non-consensual deepfakes.
Labour is tackling the issue at the source – making it illegal to supply the tools for creating explicit deepfakes.

This legislation has passed this week, despite shameful attempts from the Tories, Liberal Democrats, Green Party, and Reform to block this legislation and deny upgrades to rights to millions of workers across the UK. https://t.co/Ub8v5wLz3r

The Tories pulled us out of the #Erasmus scheme.
With Labour, the UK is rejoining that scheme. This will mean every young person has the chance to study or train abroad, no matter their background. https://t.co/2FoTuWyJrE

Of course an organisation as debased and corrupt as @FIFAcom will allow Russia to return to International Football.
I hope @FA and @UEFAcom will stand against this. Imagine England having to play a youth game against a Russian team
