Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother: Mahershala Ali is a widowed Muslim hitman who needs breast milk for his baby. John Cho is the Jesus-loving gun freak whose cult tries to get in his way. Faith-based filmmaking at its finest. Absolutely loved it. #TIFF

Everybody Wants to Fuck Me: Taron Egerton does "Obsession" to every woman on Earth in a cynical, semi-amusing sex comedy/horror movie that trips over its own dick.

Bucking Fasterd aka The Cave of Unforgotten Dreams: DELIGHTFUL. fun, funny, inscrutable… wasn’t entirely sure Herzog still had such a self-possessed weirdo banger like this in him but boy did he ever. Even Orlando Bloom cooks in it! Even Orlando Bloom!! #TIFF

Elsinore: something is rotten in the state of Denmark. Andrew Scott is great, possibly, as actor Ian Charleson performing Hamlet as he dies of AIDS, but it's hard to tell in a movie so cut to ribbons. plays like an 100-minute trailer for itself, absolutely maddening to watch.

A Long Winter: Andrew Haigh goes cold with an immaculately crafted 1950s drama about a young gay man whose mom goes missing in a storm. much too restrained for its own good, almost moribund. Fred Hechinger & Eben Moss-Bachrach both great tho.

Tender Loving Care: supposedly Mike Leigh's final film, it unfolds with the directness of a closing statement. a very simple but infinitely humane drama about the limits of what love can do, led by a magnificent Kate O'Flynn. overwhelming.

Wild Horse Nine: Martin McDonagh goes to Easter Island for another sad & spiky tale of killers in purgatory, this one satirizing CIA interventionism. Malkovich is locked in and the setting is fantastic, but i didn't believe a minute of it.

it would be a funny bit if the pointless HBO Harry Potter series was perfectly identical to the books for seven seasons only for harry to just die a horrible death in the last episode. maybe ron too. worth trying i think.

this is straight up just a line from The American President. bro is pivoting to Sorkin the month before The Social Reckoning comes out… generationally bad politician.

@NYCMayor We were just informed that our daughter’s 3K program - in operation for years - can’t open for the school year because they’re still waiting for NY Public School contract approvals and promised bridge-loan funding. Please help!

ever since we got to Italy my son has been asking me what Moana’s real name is and I’ve been like “it’s Moana” but he kept asking and asking and I was losing my mind but then he showed me in the subtitles she sings “I am Vaiana!” and that’s when we both learned something together
