There is an argument going on about whether an OpenAI model saw a mathematician's unpublished drafts. Nobody can prove it either way, including the mathematician, who says so himself. That gap is what @near_ai Cloud is built to close.
The short version.

@hosseeb the third party doctrine was written for a guy telling his bank teller a secret, not for the one entity that knows your search history, your therapy-adjacent 2am spirals, and your business plan better than your cofounder does. law hasn't caught up to how intimate this go

This story underscores that privacy remains one of the core unsolved problems in AI.
We feel intuitively that AIs are our closest confidantes. We routinely share our secrets, vulnerabilities, and most valuable work with our AIs. AIs have become an extension of our conversations

@hosseeb They also didn't completely deny the use of Tristan's codex sessions for their result. Tristan asked whether the model had access to their sessions; the denial was only that the model did not look up user data, not whether anyone had looked it up.

@hosseeb And if they are stealing stuff from chat logs... just how much their math breakthroughs are like that, check interesting approaches, work on those, claim credit.
If this is even close to truth, this is *really* bad

You're missing the core drama of the story: Tristan is softly accusing OpenAI of having stolen their result from Codex chat logs.
Tristan then claims OpenAI tried to threaten him to not publicly disclose this, and that they'd give him the Clay Prize ($1M) as the "closest humans

SITUATION DETECTED: Mathematicians Tristan Buckmaster and Levent Alpöge have made major progress toward solving the Navier-Stokes existence and smoothness problem, one of the most important problems in mathematics, and say OpenAI may have solved it fully.

@hosseeb @0xSigil The real vulnerability isn't permissionless rails, it's opacity. A rogue agent spun up from a closed, black-box model is invisible until it's already loose. No one can inspect what it was trained to do, audit its behavior, or trace what it's spending on.

From a capabilities and intelligence perspective, Google has clearly fallen behind. Their new flagship model looks roughly Grok/GLM territory.
But Google is now pressing their unique advantage in hardware instead. 300+ TPS on sticker pricing is incredible.

The Anthropic & OpenAI IPOs will be the largest ever liquidity transfer from global institutions to SF futurists.
And what will they plow their money into? I expect the two most concentrated beneficiaries will be SF real estate, and crypto.

@hosseeb It turns out that projects are doing something stupid when they buyback tokens instead of spending budgets on expansion.

@hosseeb Total FUD. No, it's not "all about spend". You can e.g. still use formal verification which AI isn't gonna break with magic. Yes, you should use frontier models to harden your setup and also review e.g. your invariants in formal verification, but no, that doesn't mean
