Nobody needs to protect solo stakers from this EIP. 🛡️
They need protecting from the current curve: ever-rising dilution, tax on nominal yield, and no off-switch pushing yields down anyway. ⚠️ The taper caps the dilution, keeps 100% of EL income with the proposer, and never puts

Under the taper, issuance peaks at ~0.5% of supply/year (around a 20% ratio) and falls to zero at 50%. 📉
ETH supply growth will be bounded and more predictable. Combined with the EIP-1559 and Blob burn, the supply will more often decrease 🦇🔊

The fix: at each epoch, deduct and burn a fraction of each validator's idealised duty rewards. 🔥
The burn fraction rises from 0 to 100% at a fixed saturation balance (~half the supply).

The problem: Ethereum's staking ratio passed 1/3 of supply in April 2026, and climbs every month. 📈
Under the current curve, yield never drops below ~1.5% even with ALL ETH staked.
The incentive to stake never switches off. Where does it stop? It doesn't. ♾️
