FOR THE RECORD I do page through books before I buy them. In this case there were several copies, one of which I looked through and replaced on the shelf. Then later when the time came to make a purchase I selected one of the copies at random. And that is when fate intervened 33.3K views · 706 likes · 1 reposts · 2 replies Open on X →

@madeleineebaker I have a copy of Blood Meridian that has a section in the middle replaced with a couple dozen pages of The Diary of Anne Frank. 130.5K views · 4.2K likes · 46 reposts · 16 replies Open on X →

Earlier this month I purchased a copy of The Annotated Lolita at a bookstore. I finally cracked it open this evening and now I feel like someone is playing a very elaborate practical joke on me. https://t.co/Kbe3gCJlTg

And if you'd like me to write, speak, or work for you, please reach out. I've been told that my post about my job status was melodramatic or exaggerated, but I've also been informed that next year will be my last at Harvard barring a policy change, so excuse my desperation. 1.7K views · 15 likes · 1 reposts · 0 replies Open on X →

I may be mistaken, but I believe I am the first person working off the tenure track to win this award in its half-century existence. I hope this will help put to rest the myth that historians struggle to secure permanent teaching positions because their work is inadequate. 69.6K views · 857 likes · 56 reposts · 16 replies Open on X →

I am extremely excited to share that my book Make Your Own Job received the 2026 Merle Curti Award in Intellectual History from the Organization of American Historians. It is a real honor. https://t.co/N7uPUKGboy 95.5K views · 873 likes · 48 reposts · 53 replies Open on X →
