You're not wrong. I suspect Nature's incentive is that (unfortunately) editorials engage a broader audience than science and some only care about the opinion journalism and don't care about science at all Or when was the last time you commented on a research paper in Nature? 3.4K views · 28 likes · 5 reposts · 4 replies Open on X →

@martinmbauer @holydisrupter We took our son there in recent years just before he started secondary school. It was really inspiring to learn more about it. @martinmbauer About 50 years ago aged 16, my Mum and Dad stopped off at Jodrell Bank on the way to the Lake District. Always remember is all these years later. How many kids have been inspired by a visit ?. 193 views · 9 likes · 0 reposts · 1 replies Open on X →
@martinmbauer Also the recruitment of young people to physics degrees - inspiration is often astronomy/astrophysics/cosmology/particle physics - often from a very young age. Not so attractive when already limited career opportunities decimated. There will be repercussions. 197 views · 6 likes · 0 reposts · 0 replies Open on X →
The public outcry over the cuts to Jodrell Bank and UK physics is genuinely encouraging. It is not often expressed this way, but people in the UK have a deep appreciation for the inspiration we draw from studying the cosmos and seeking to understand the fundamental laws of https: 32.8K views · 1.1K likes · 285 reposts · 51 replies Open on X →
