Just received clarification that this was not the result of an explosion, but a mechanical mishap. There’s two vehicles involved and one of them did indeed catch fire.
Still no ETA on when the roadway will reopen.

NB I-5 / Nisqually River Bridge
The freeway is fully blocked and being diverted at MP 110 due to a vehicle explosion that occurred before the bridge.
Unfortunately there was a fatality involved in this incident and the roadway will be closed for an unknown amount of time.

Troopers are on scene of a 3 car collision on NB I-5 at Trosper Rd.
2 of the vehicles came to rest down an embankment near Capitol Blvd. No injuries were sustained and tows are en route.

Yesterday, this vehicle was pulled from a retention pond on NB I-5 at S. 38th St.
The driver was cited for speeds too fast for conditions.
As the weather changes, and more rainfall happens please remember to adjust your speeds in the curves and your distance being other cars.
