Excellent thread on the thinking in Sweden behind its shift in naval strategy since joining NATO. 953 views · 2 likes · 0 reposts · 2 replies Open on X →

It amazes me how people are turning what looks like a really risky flight manoeuvre into a litmus test of : a) South African patriotism and/or b) racism. People, if white pilots did this in Britain they would be grounded. Are you saying Africans deserve less safety? 4K views · 38 likes · 3 reposts · 48 replies Open on X →
An expert opinion. I suggest those mouthing off in ignorance read what Sibusiso has to say. 2K views · 1 likes · 0 reposts · 0 replies Open on X →
Slow this video down. Plane 1 generated the same vortexes that you see Plane 2 generate from the smoke. Those vortexes move downward. This is crucial. If Plane 2 flew into Plane 1’s vortexes by just a few feet/meters, those supporters on the stands would have perished. 117K views · 132 likes · 26 reposts · 131 replies Open on X →
And if pilots from a European country or the US had flown that low without any casualties, they would be singing their praises. The narrative would be about their skill and talent, but because they’re African, because they’re South African, the west cannot simply give credit. 9.7K views · 196 likes · 50 reposts · 68 replies Open on X →

@TheEconomist “We saw that it [dementia] was not only a late-life disease that can’t be prevented, but more of a process that starts in mid-life with the possibilities to at least slow the progression,” says Miia Kivipelto of the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm. 3/ 8.6K views · 61 likes · 0 reposts · 2 replies Open on X →
@TheEconomist Whereas 40 years ago three in every ten Americans aged 85-89 had dementia, by 2024 just one in ten had it...Between 1988 and 2015 the share of older people being diagnosed with dementia fell by 13% a decade across six countries in North America and Europe 2/ 8.5K views · 84 likes · 2 reposts · 1 replies Open on X →
This week in @TheEconomist I wrote about the incredible progress that we have been making against dementia. Though total numbers are rising (because we are living longer), the actual rate at every age has been coming down sharply for decades.
